Liza Colburn has
14 years of agency and in-house public relations experience,
representing product and service organizations in high-technology
and consumer sectors. Most recently, Liza was an Account
Director at Emerge Public Relations where she worked for
two years to grow the company’s mobile/wireless and
enterprise software client initiatives, while overseeing
account teams in program execution and results.
She joined Emerge PR after 9 years with Horn Group, a full-service
technology and business-to-business public relations firm,
where she helped launch and build the agency’s first East Coast office. In
both roles, Liza served as the primary client contact, driving
and conducting media and analyst strategy and outreach, writing
and editing releases, and developing collateral and case
studies. She also brings solid writing and editing skills
to client work, resulting in creative IT- and business-level
pitches as well as many contributed and ghost-written articles.
Liza is experienced in taking niche vendors into mainstream
markets. Her areas of expertise include mobile/wireless,
enterprise software, security, vertical markets, consumer
technology and book promotion. She has worked with Action Engine, ATG, Harte-Hanks, Information Builders, and Red Bend Software, among others. She has created and executed vertical programs for retail, public sector, financial services and healthcare solutions and was part of the team responsible for launching PeopleSoft’s
vertical business units in the late 1990s. Liza has particular
expertise in promoting best practices and expertise for thought
leaders and service organizations including Patricia Seybold
(and PS Group), AMR Research, and Harvard Business School
Publishing (including best-selling author Michael Porter).
Previously, Liza was with ON Technology’s marketing and PR team during the company’s IPO and launch of numerous groupware and security products. Her career in public relations began in the early 1990s with Brodeur & Partners (now Brodeur), a full-service agency, where she serviced consumer technology accounts including Fidelity’s
Online Investor Center and PointCast.
She holds a B.A. in Communications from Simmons College, with minors in Spanish and Management, and is the mother of three beautiful daughters.
