Liza Colburn has 14 years of agency and in-house public relations experience, representing product and service organizations in high-technology and consumer sectors. Most recently, Liza was an Account Director at Emerge Public Relations where she worked for two years to grow the company’s mobile/wireless and enterprise software client initiatives, while overseeing account teams in program execution and results.

She joined Emerge PR after 9 years with Horn Group, a full-service technology and business-to-business public relations firm, where she helped launch and build the agency’s first East Coast office.  In both roles, Liza served as the primary client contact, driving and conducting media and analyst strategy and outreach, writing and editing releases, and developing collateral and case studies. She also brings solid writing and editing skills to client work, resulting in creative IT- and business-level pitches as well as many contributed and ghost-written articles.

Liza is experienced in taking niche vendors into mainstream markets. Her areas of expertise include mobile/wireless, enterprise software, security, vertical markets, consumer technology and book promotion.  She has worked with Action Engine, ATG, Harte-Hanks, Information Builders, and Red Bend Software, among others. She has created and executed vertical programs for retail, public sector, financial services and healthcare solutions and was part of the team responsible for launching PeopleSoft’s vertical business units in the late 1990s. Liza has particular expertise in promoting best practices and expertise for thought leaders and service organizations including Patricia Seybold (and PS Group), AMR Research, and Harvard Business School Publishing (including best-selling author Michael Porter).

Previously, Liza was with ON Technology’s marketing and PR team during the company’s IPO and launch of numerous groupware and security products. Her career in public relations began in the early 1990s with Brodeur & Partners (now Brodeur), a full-service agency, where she serviced consumer technology accounts including Fidelity’s Online Investor Center and PointCast.

She holds a B.A. in Communications from Simmons College, with minors in Spanish and Management, and is the mother of three beautiful daughters.
